Undeclared Major

Not sure yet which major you want to pursue?

Are you undecided on an academic major? Are you unsure which major to choose that will best help you achieve your career goals? Don't worry — it is completely OK to start college with an undeclared major! At Southwest Baptist University, you will receive personal, one-on-one academic advisement focused on helping you discover God's calling for your life.

All first-year students at SBU are advised through the University Success Center. Your advisor will work with you to explore careers and college majors that match your skills, interests and values. You will also benefit from SBU's Career Services office, which provides valuable career assessment tools and resources for you.

Your advisor will enroll you in general education courses from a variety of subject areas. Taking these general education courses your first year helps you work toward a degree and fulfill graduation requirements while also being introduced to new topics and ideas. Many students discover the academic path they wish to pursue through taking these general education courses and go on to choose the major that is right for them.

Regardless of which major you end up choosing, earning a college degree will be immensely valuable to you. SBU faculty across campus desire to see you develop as a person and gain the interpersonal, communication and problem-solving skills employers most desire.

With more than 100 areas of academic study and the personal attention of your academic advisor in the University Success Center, SBU will prepare you for a lifetime of success!
